At the beginning of 2022, we asked our team members for suggestions of causes and charities they would like to see Lurvey support. During those discussions, many of us learned that a handful of employees are affected by epilepsy, and a few of our team members also have children with the disease.  Many of us had little knowledge or understanding of epilepsy and it was for that reason that we chose to partner with the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago (www.epilepsychicago.org).  Our intent was to build awareness of epilepsy, also called a seizure disorder, and raise funds on a local level for continued research.

We created a multi-faceted plan. At the store registers, our customers were given the option to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar. In all our promotional pieces during the two months, we included a link where interested parties could go online and make a direct donation to the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago.

Finally, Lurvey team members from two of our locations participated in one of the foundation’s Fall Fest 5K events.  Our team was organized and led by Cem from our Volo location. Shout out and thanks to all of the team members for their participation…Cem, Jenn, Emerson, Chris, Meagen (Chris’ partner), and Poppy (Chris’ daughter). You all represented Lurvey well!

At the completion of the two-month event, Lurvey was pleased to present the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago with a check for nearly $1,300.00 along with the nearly $300 raised by the Fall Fest 5k participants. We were honored to have partnered with this great group and to have helped the foundation continue its mission of helping people with epilepsy live their everyday lives.
