The plants are all so healthy and well-cared for, the hardscape/landscaping product choices are beyond plentiful, and the garden shop is fully-stocked with tons of beautiful and tasteful items. All that plus the staff is very friendly and helpful. I have had numerous great experiences at Lurvey, high recommend.

Within the cozy confines of this store, you may find yourself doing 2 laps looking at the same products just because. The staff seemed happy to be there and can help you find potting soil to paver for your driveway. Parking can be difficult, so have patience.

I visited this place 😲 omg 😆! 🤗😇😊 ANN JULIA and the cashier they have the nicest 💖 awesome 🎈 👌 staff I was relaxed with them they were so helpful patient and energy in this place and it smells good the Atmosphere I just loved it I mean being there with my coffee ☕️ walking around looking 😊 and purchasing and smelling the plants and all the Xmas items they have on display this time of year it's just phoneminal I met a customer that has his own green house that shops there often I met another customer that had some interesting Gifts 🎁 in her cart which gave me plenty of ideas 💡 what a wonderful feeling I had after purchasing and feeling great and happy when I left this place this is by far... one of my best shopping 🛍 experience and I think 🤔 it's because Honestly the atmosphere and the display and the ripple effect of the staff they are there on duty to aid and assist I had no issues my client was sooo happy. EDIT: I have upgraded this review as of 8/23 to a five star after a repeat visit and further price comparisons. They are pretty competitive on price and a better customer experience than most other stores in this segment in this part of the suburbs. I liked the selection of OMRI (organic) inputs for my yard.OP (4 star): I would totally give them five stars but it is a bit expensive. Products and customer service are excellent. It's definitely geared to more of an upscale experience than, say, Home Depot or Lowe's.

What an excellent surprise. We were visiting Chicago for another reason but we always like to check out local garden centers wherever we go.. I'm not into grasses as much as I used to be but they had such a large variety it was hard to resist. I did buy several Prairie Dropseed's. They are rare to find in a store. We were looking for a Climbing Hydrangea which are also uncommon. They had at least 20 excellent specimens. A nice selection of Hosta's and many other things. I strongly dislike driving to Chicago but we will likely plan a trip next spring to visit Lurvey. PS. The staff were all very pleasant.

My wife and I have been customers since 2004. My wife went to pick up a plant order which she had multiples of but some were on backorder. She submitted the receipt and the agent loads the vehicle. Their job is to correlate the order to what’s supposed to be loaded. The person loading made an error and loaded too many. My wife began to leave and a saleslady starts yelling and waving hands that she’s not allowed to leave with those plants. She then blamed my wife for not being aware of the extra plants, inferring that she’s a thief. When my wife brought up this embarrassing conduct the manager basically sided with the employee.If this is how they do business we are definitely no longer customers and our family and friends will be informed of how they treat customers. The correct way to... approach would have been “Excuse me miss I believe that our agent loaded too many plants, can we make sure it’s correct? Sorry for the mistake.” Customer service 101. It amazes me that not only did employee act this way but the management is on the same page.read more

I love this store! I find myself there at least twice a week to buy perennials, shrubs, houseplants, and even early this season I purchased trees. Without a doubt the quality of the plants are exceptional. My only concern is the grumpy older woman who is a cashier. I've had the unfortunate experience of getting her three times in the last month and she has the personality of a thumbtack. The first encounter I asked for two cardboard trays for the several plants I purchased so they could sit upright in the car. She told me there weren't any. I could clearly see there were several made up trays on a table but she told me I could only have a plastic sheet. When I explained the trays would prevent the plant containers from tipping over, you would have thought I was asking for free money. She... begrudgingly gave me two boxes. She is so unpleasant that the next time I will wait until another cashier is available just so I don't have to encounter her again. The other cashiers at least know how to engage with customers.read more

Since Lurvey's opened in Des Plaines it is and will always remain my go to place for Gardening and Landscape supplies. The selection for annuals, perennials, scrubs, trees, hardscape, landscape, planters, fountains, pond materials, etc. are top notch. Also the trained staff make every trip and inquiry about our garden very helpful. Never disappointed and highly recommend!

I found out about Lurvey's a year ago when I won a raffle gift from there. The staff is very helpful and the greenhouse is top notch. All the plants are so healthy and beautiful. This garden center is lovely. I've been coming here for years (I live about an hour away, but stumbled upon this place due to work travel years ago...been making the yearly trek ever since!).

They must've renovated the inside recently because it's huge & has so much more to offer!
For example, there's a coffee station for customers.
They also have unique gifts for anyone on your list (pet lovers, gardeners, wedding showers, newlyweds, housewarming, the list goes on...)

They have fairy gardens, terrariums, koi ponds...and did I mention the gorgeous array of flowers & plants?!?

Lurveys is my go-to place for spikes (never seen any as tall as theirs). Their flowers are well-loved and tended to so they can be transferred right into your garden!

The staff is... plentiful & helpful too.

I'm pretty honest when it comes to my opinions, so I'm going to be honest with this last item as well. Lurveys is the type of place that you get what you pay for. If you covet unique, high-quality products for your home or garden (or for fun gifts), then be prepared to spend that little extra. But, the items are top notch & I've never had a problem with anything I've purchased there through the years (there are exchange/returns, if needed though).
Did I mention they have a complimentary loyalty program as well?! ($$ spent turns into $$ off).
