I drove 30 min away to purchase an item and couldn't get a price in an empty store with 5 associates in the building they offer to leave my name and number. I guess they don't want business 🤷. They are supposedly getting new items in season, yet I have seen the item thru the yrs. They could get a price What a waste of time!!! I came to Peaches flowers instead.

They have nice enough stuff but the experience here is horrible, often. Most recently, my wife bought something and I went to pick it up. One person in the service desk area and a line 5 deep. I ask a cashier to help me (two cashiers and no line in checkout). They say I have to wait in the service line. The cashiers stand around chatting while I wait 15 minutes.The item is right behind the service desk. Once I’m to the front it takes 1 minute. I think anyone can see the problem here, right?

Large selection, I came in a rush so didn’t get to see all that they have, but definitely thinking to come back when I redo our gardens. I bought a milkweed plant and the lady at the info center was extremely helpful. They had 25% off a lot of items for end of summer sale.

Love this place. Not only is it beautifully laid out & maintained, but they carry quality products - bought all our landscaping here last year; river rocks, 8 red twig dogwoods, a viburnum Bush and a Japanese maple. Happy to report that they are all doing fantastic after their first Chicago winter! The staff is super knowledgeable - if they can't answer your question they will find someone who can. I also love that their experts are happy to answer questions and you never feel pressured to purchase anything. Top notch garden center all the way around. I will definitely be back!

Lurvey's is a nice nursery with a large selection of plants, trees, other garden items and more. It is often lightly staffed for the traffic, which is frustrating if you are trying to get help with purchase of a tree, but my wife and I have found nice plant material there. We just purchased a very pretty specimen B&B 7' Empire 1 Japanese Red Maple tree from them at a fair price. Retail prices are high but not out of line for our area and landscapers get a good discount. Lurvey's wants 150% of the retail purchase price of a tree to deliver and plant a tree, WAY out of line, but delivery price alone isn't unreasonable. In my experience, if you use a landscaper they can save you some money on the purchase price if they wish, and will deliver and plant for much less money Lurvey's. In the... case of our Japanese maple above, purchasing retail and having Lurvey's deliver and plant the tree would have cost over 3 times as much as my landscaper charged me to purchase at his price, pick up, deliver and plant the tree. I do recommend you check out Lurvey's if you are in the market for plants and trees and compare to other nurserys you like. Finding an especially nice specimen is a matter of looking around at different places and checking back often as they get new plant material every week, all season long.read more

Today I tried to buy bushes with my landscaper.I have never seen such a terrible and rude service with customers ever. As a result, they refused to sell bushes for us. Even one star is too much for them.

Really bad experience. We drove all the way out from Dupage county on July 3rd because the hours on their website and on Google said they were open until 5PM. Store cleared everyone and kicked us out shortly after we arrived at 3:05PM. Employee gave us some excuse about fireworks across the street but I suspect they just wanted to leave early. Needless to say, we will not be returning.Response to store: No, your holiday hours were not updated for July 3rd. We all checked our phones before leaving our house and even checked your website when we were told that the early closing was posted there upon our arrival. Your holiday hours were only reflected for July 4th.

A beautiful garden center with a large array of shrubs, trees, annuals, and perennials. Inside they have lots of beautiful bird houses, furniture, house plants,etc. Their plants are always well maintained and the staff is very helpful.

Lurvey is a first rate business. Incredible & beautiful selection of indoor and outdoor plants. Unlike the big box stores all the plants are plentiful and full of color. Lovely furniture and many unique gift items. The staff is amazing. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and extremely helpful.

Limited trip for something specific but encountered many helpful and extremely knowledgeable staff. They carry really nice garden and patio furniture and accessories. They look expensive but they are the same or less on most of tge items I saw. Seems more of a landscapers paradise, but it is a great place for the home gardener.

We purchased 2 9’ White Pine trees from Lurvey’s. The selection and ordering with Tom was so easy! They were able to move the trees from their Volo location to Des Plaines for me to examine and approve! They arrived and they looked fantastic. Very full all the way to the ground and very healthy. The trunks were really surprising huge!! As was the root ball, which really helps a tree to handle the stress of planting. The arrangements for delivery and installation were handled by an outside landscape firm who arrived at the appointment time for the position marking and discussion. He really understood the whole tree planting process! We determined the exact place for the trees. The installers were great to work with. The trees looked even bigger on the truck, seeing them in... person and not in the Lurvey’s large yard. They took as best care as they possibly do to get these huge trees into my very crowded yard, into place and planted, with as little damage as possible to the gardens, no easy task! One was installed on a slope by an existing, new fence in a narrow side yard! They really had to carfully lift and adjust the tree to get it into the ground. They had to take the very long way around the house for that one so they would not break off low branches of a birch tree that was in the short path. They planted quickly and were great to work with. Even with adjustments that had to be made once the digging started, moving the position a foot or so this way or that. One tree even had a bird nest in it, which we kept in place as it is good luck! The trees are settling in great and took off on their normal Spring growth. I must say that the quality and size and the trees and the smooth installation process, we feel we have quality trees that are set to take root and grow and well worth the cost. It is so great to look our windows and see these dense, beautiful pines and can’t wait for the resident cardinals to select one next year for their home. Thanks, Lurvey’s!!read more

If I could give zero, I would. We entered the greenhouse 30 minutes before closing on a Monday. There were 8+people in line to check out-perfectly acceptable to run in, check out the zinnia selection and purchase if they had what we needed. The couple in front of us were stopped at the door and told the closing time was 15 minutes and the associate escorted them to their location. We were then approached by 5 different people on our quick saunter through to our section…each of them reminding us of their closing time. I’m well aware of how time works as well as how long it takes me to find what I’m looking for. On our way out, a linger at a set of chairs left two associates reeling with the need to physically “herd” us out of the location. I’d love to comment on the selection, however the... speed at which we were escorted out left a less than appealing taste to say the least. Do not recommend.read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!Came here Sunday morning to get the flowers. There was not enough parking spaces first of all. Second, when i filled up my cart and standing in the line for 30min in 8 month pregnancy, I asked the manager to let me pass by the line since i wasnt feeling good outside. He said he cant help me and he just gave me a chair to sit next to my cart and continue waiting. I asked a lady in the line closer to the cash register if she would mind if i cut the line, she said she would, other people heard and disregarded me…. I live in Park Ridge and my whole back yard is filled with their flowers. Now they lost the customer for good!!!!!

Most people go here for plants and gardening tools, I like to visit their cute gift shop and live Christmas trees in the winter. The shop is always stocked with unique gifts, trinkets, seasonal items and décor pieces that are rarely found anywhere else. In the winter you can often find beautiful trees for sale. If you need something special this is definitely a great place to check out!

This place is a gem in our town for sure!I typically come here for unique plants because I know they have a selection like no other, but it's also a treat for me because you won't find a casual corporate sale like you might at the larger hardware stores nearby. But when it's worth it, it's worth it.They also have so much more than just plants. They have a beautiful selection of household items and gifts, PERFECT for any housewarming party, shower or wedding! I also love the idea of supporting local shops. Visit, especially in the summer!!!

Since Lurvey's opened in Des Plaines it is and will always remain my go to place for Gardening and Landscape supplies. The selection for annuals, perennials, scrubs, trees, hardscape, landscape, planters, fountains, pond materials, etc. are top notch. Also the trained staff make every trip and inquiry about our garden very helpful. Never disappointed and highly recommend!

I found out about Lurvey's a year ago when I won a raffle gift from there. The staff is very helpful and the greenhouse is top notch. All the plants are so healthy and beautiful. I often go here to just look around their store and I always walk out with something! It's worth the trip, check it out...

This garden center is lovely. I've been coming here for years (I live about an hour away, but stumbled upon this place due to work travel years ago...been making the yearly trek ever since!).

They must've renovated the inside recently because it's huge & has so much more to offer!
For example, there's a coffee station for customers.
They also have unique gifts for anyone on your list (pet lovers, gardeners, wedding showers, newlyweds, housewarming, the list goes on...)

They have fairy gardens, terrariums, koi ponds...and did I mention the gorgeous array of flowers & plants?!?

Lurveys is my go-to place for spikes (never seen any as tall as theirs). Their flowers are well-loved and tended to so they can be transferred right into your garden!

The staff is... plentiful & helpful too.

I'm pretty honest when it comes to my opinions, so I'm going to be honest with this last item as well. Lurveys is the type of place that you get what you pay for. If you covet unique, high-quality products for your home or garden (or for fun gifts), then be prepared to spend that little extra. But, the items are top notch & I've never had a problem with anything I've purchased there through the years (there are exchange/returns, if needed though).
Did I mention they have a complimentary loyalty program as well?! ($$ spent turns into $$ off).

Plan to spend at least an hour here (if it's your 1st time); so much to see, so much to buy, so many new ideas to gather! ❤️Lurveys!! 😊🌿🌺read more
