How to Measure Your Container
Measure the inside diameter (plantable area) at the top of your container. This is the widest opening of the container and the maximum size your drop-in can be.
Measure the inside diameter at the narrowest point of the container, near the bottom. The bottom diameter of your drop-in must be smaller than this measurement to fit properly.
Measure from the top edge down to the base of your container. This ensures your drop-in sits at the correct height and doesn’t stick out. If you have more depth than needed, that’s OK!
Lurvey Pro Tip:
If your container is too deep, you can raise the drop-in using lightweight inorganic fillers such as recycled water bottles, milk jugs, or packing peanuts to reduce weight and soil costs. For structural support, pavers or pea gravel are a great option. Whatever material you use, ensuring good drainage is key.
