Established in 2010, the Bronzeville Community Garden is a hub for residents of the local community. The community can gather, grow food, eat, and socialize in an easily accessible space. It doesn’t stop there either, as the garden offers workshops, children’s events, gardening classes, and fresh produce.

The Student Conservation Association (SCA) recently tackled rejuvenating the community garden in Bronzeville, which is a community near Guaranteed Rate Field on the southern side of Chicago. The SCA, Timberland, and Urban Juncture partnered with a number of businesses in and around the community to help construct new infrastructure, including raised beds, a tool shed, gathering spaces, new plantings, and more.

We partnered with the SCA by donating a gift card allowing them to come in and purchase last-minute needs for the project including vegetables and planting media to help complete their service project.

The Student Conservation Association is a great organization with a powerful mission.

“Build the next generation of conservation leaders and inspire lifelong stewardship of the environment and communities by engaging young people in the hands-on service to the land.”

We are fortunate to have been able to contribute to the success of this project and hope we can participate again soon! If you would like to learn more about their mission and the projects they are involved in please visit their website at www.thesca.org.
