Description

Black volcanic rock originates from molten magma that erupts from volcanoes as lava and cools rapidly on Earth’s surface. Its dark color and rugged structure come from high amounts of iron and magnesium, combined with a fast cooling process that traps gas bubbles or prevents large crystals from forming. It is lightweight compared to other types of landscaping stones and is ¾” to 1 ½”. Each 1 cubic foot bag will cover about 6 square feet at a depth of 2”. It is also commonly referred to as lava rock. It’s typically stocked at our Des Plaines, Volo, and Park City locations. WARNING: This product is not suitable for firepits or fireplaces.
